A snowy weekend in the Lakes (18-20 November)

This impromptu meet at the Smithy was threatened with mixed weather (the MWIS forecast was ‘appalling’) which did not deter those present from venturing out, albeit at low level on the first two days.
On Friday DC, AC, CC AD & LM walked from Grange in Borrowdale to Seatoller and back via Rosthwaite and Watendlath, all very wet under foot but at this time of the year quiet. Saturday brought similar conditions, PB, DC, AD, CP walking to Keswick via St Johns, Tewitt Tarn,Threlkeld and Latrigg, AC & CC choosing to visit Castlerigg Stone Circle en route to Keswick. The cloud formations and weather were very dramatic at times.
Sunday was altogether different, the precipitation over the previous days leaving a significant covering of snow on the tops and a wintry feel to the Lakes. In clear, cold conditions PB, DC, AC, CC & AD joined a steady stream of walkers over Grisedale Pike and on to Hopegill Head returning down Coledale to Braithwaite.
