This site has been checked and complies with HTML 4.01 Transitional, this means it will work with the widest range of browsers. It also means that the site should remain readable when viewed with earlier versions of browsers that do not support certain features, indeed it should work with text only browsers such as Lynx. If anyone can verify this we would be pleased to hear from you, webmaster@gritstoneclub.org.uk.
Part of the reason for undertaking the above process was an attempt to get away from the 'Best viewed with xxxx or yyyy browser.' syndrome. It was prompted following a visit to the www.anybrowser.org site.
Browsers and settings for best results
The site has presently been tested with Mozilla Firefox 1.0, Internet Explorer 6.02, Netscape Navigator 7.2 and the Opera 7.5 browser, each appear to give reasonably consistent results. We intend testing the site with other browsers as time permits, however, if you use an alternative browser or version and are able to provide some feedback of the compatibility of the site with that browser we would be pleased to hear it. Style Sheet
Most of the formatting on this site is controlled by a 'style sheet'. If you can't see any background colours on the site, your browser may not support style sheets or support may be disabled, ensure style sheet support is enabled where possible, this should normally cure any problems. Check your browser help files for details. Most browsers have style sheet support enabled by default. It is also possible to configure browsers to ignore any colours specified on the web pages, consult your browser help files for information about turning this facility off as it would also prevent the display of colours and backgrounds.
