The Four Crags meet is a classic Gristone meet – first done in the 1960’s so its been running off and on for nearly 60 years. The club was very ambitious on the first occasion. In my case, with Rodger Sutcliffe, we did Bowfell Buttress, followed by Bridges Route (Esk Buttress), Mickledore Grooves (Scafell) and finally Old West Route (Pillar).

Choose your crags and your routes – it’s up to you. However Langdale on its own is a perfect location to select 4 crags whether you want to focus on the miles or climbing difficulty. Some examples of crag combinations include:

A massive day out White Ghyll Crag, Gimmer Crag, Bowfell finishing on Neckband.

A big day out Whyte Ghyll to Pavey Ark, Gimmer Crag and and valley crag of your choice

A local day out Raven Crag Walthwaite, Scout Crag, East Raven, Raven Crag and well positioned bar on the ODG.

Its perfectly based at the FRCC Raw Head hut.

Between us we have lots of knowledge of climbs in Langdale so if you want some ideas just ask.
